POMCO's Record Growth Provides City Reinvestment

8/23/2007

As POMCO approaches its 30th anniversary of doing business in the city of Syracuse and nationwide, the professional business administrator continues to experience record double-digit growth. This growth, coupled with support from the City and New York state, has enabled POMCO to continue renovations to its 75,000 square-foot headquarters - including plans to add a "City Scape" exterior appearance to its James Street buildings this fall, complete with awnings and exterior lighting.

"Essentially, we'll be taking our one continuous building face that now spans an entire city block and transforming it into five distinct facades to make it more aesthetically pleasing and consistent with the 'village within a city' look of the Eastwood community," said Robert W. Pomfrey, POMCO president & CEO.

Pomfrey added that continued business growth at the company is the central reason behind POMCO's expansion and renovation projects. "This year, we're experiencing a 15 percent increase by adding several new clients including the State of Tennessee," Pomfrey said, "and we're projecting similar growth numbers for 2008."

POMCO has also added more than 54,000 covered members to its book of business for new clients including the State of Tennessee, Oneida Indian Nation, Daimler Chrysler Commercial Buses, North Syracuse Central School District, Oswego City School District, Owl Wire & Cable and a New York City-area, 23-school consortium.

According to Pomfrey, the company's most recent renovations - which include expanding and remodeling the office's lobby and conference rooms, renovating the building's exterior and renovating a large percentage of its employee work space to accommodate POMCO's growth -- demonstrate the company's concerted commitment to the city of Syracuse, its Eastwood neighbors, its clients and employees.

"While some companies have recently decided to leave Syracuse, POMCO and its employees steadfastly continue to invest in this community," Pomfrey said. "We've been fortunate to have enjoyed a great working relationship with the city of Syracuse, as well as New York state, which has helped enable us to continue to grow and prosper at our current location."

Established in 1978, POMCO is ranked nationally by the Society of Professional Benefits Administrators as one of the largest independent professional benefits administrators in the country.
