POMCO-Funded "M-LAB" to Provide Classroom on Wheels to Syracuse City Students
10/25/2007
A group of Syracuse University students is participating in an unusual 15-week assignment to transform the interior of a large recreational vehicle into a state-of-the-art classroom on wheels. When completed in spring 2008, the newly-renovated RV -- known as the Mobile Literacy Arts Bus, or M-LAB, will make the rounds to Syracuse City high schools complete with a photo lab, digital cameras, laptop computers and printers.
The M-LAB is a collaborative Partnership for Better Education initiative of POMCO, SU, the Syracuse City School District and New York State Sen. David J. Valesky (D-Oneida), who secured a program grant. POMCO provided matching funding.

"We're excited to support the Partnership for Better Education that has been so successful in providing the educational programs, resources and support that help keep a college education in sight for so many area students," said Bob Pomfrey, POMCO President & CEO. "It's our hope that this funding will help make a lasting impact on these students as they progress through their education endeavors."
Partnership for Better Education exposes students to creative approaches to the arts, literacy, science and technology, engineering and math.
